A TRUE STORRIE
I'll tell you all a story,
Of a fire, they named Storrie!
And how she reached her glory,
Her smoke was dark and grim!!
Her start - The Feather River
This canyon's no forgiver!
It's sheerness makes you shiver,
As you step out from the rim!!
I've fought fire, nigh forty years,
But Storrie brought out, some new fears!
At my age, I won't show tears,
Yet Storrie was a match!!
To date, she's burned some forty thou.
Her rugged features won't allow
Direct attack, but still, somehow,
She will, be ours to catch!!
With weeks gone by, we have made gains,
Used "cats," and crews, and aeroplanes!
She may not "die," 'til winter rains
But we won't let her grow!!
As felling boss, I do observe
Crews actions, as she throws a curve!
Though most, yet young, they all have nerve
That "feeling," I do know!!
This Storrie, now, like all will end
My message, with, I do send,
"For homes and resources you defend,
To all who fought - Our Thanks!!"
