On April 1, 2000 a new fire was discovered on the Upper Lake Ranger District.  At time of discovery the fire was estimated at 1,000 acres, in steep inaccessible terrain.  A National Incident Management Team headed by Incident Commander Scott Vail was ordered and is assuming command of the fire on April 2, 2000.  The fire is currently estimated at 2,000 acres in size.
